Midway Contemporary Art: Building a Sustainable Future Through PACE Financing

Location:
Minneapolis

Located in a reimagined 1963 light industrial building, Midway Contemporary Art stands as a powerful example of how sustainability and creativity can thrive together. Thanks to the PACE Loan Program, this once utilitarian space has been transformed into a vibrant public art gallery—while embedding long-term energy efficiency and environmental stewardship into its core.

The PACE Loan program made possible the conversion of our 1963 light industrial building into a public art gallery space. We were successful in adding carbon sequestering hemp and recycled glass insulation in the walls and below the slab, triple pane windows, and converting the building to all electric. We now have energy efficient radiant floor heat and LED lights throughout. In the coming year we will be adding solar to the facility. We could not have had a better partner in realizing this project for our organization!

Through thoughtful design and innovative financing, Midway Contemporary Art has demonstrated how PACE financing can empower nonprofits and creative organizations to lead by example. The project not only reduces energy costs and environmental impact but also creates a more comfortable, sustainable, and inspiring space for artists and the community alike.

Midway’s transformation is more than a building project—it’s a model for what’s possible when art, sustainability, and smart financing come together to shape a better future for Minnesota communities.
